Kelsy Nielson Photographer – Blog bio picture
  • Welcome to my blog!

Hello friend :) Out of the entire worldwide web, you've found me and I'm so glad you did. I'm a wedding photographer based out of Edmonton, Alberta. My blog is a place to check out my recent work, view glimpses of my life and see some personal photography. It's updated regularly, so please come back soon.

I believe that if you love life, your life will love you back. My husband Tim and I have been married for over five crazy beautiful years. Together we enjoy spending time with our little daughter Violet, getting lost in foreign lands, skiing in the rockies, watching Oilers hockey and dancing in the kitchen. Life is wonderful.

    Lots of Love,
    Kelsy

Ophelia & Austin- Edmonton Maternity Photographer

Ophelia and Austin are expecting their baby girl any day now and I’m anxiously waiting along with them. It’s their first baby and they are super excited to have her join their little family. They are such a sweet couple and I just know that their daughter is not only going to be sweet but will be absolutely adorable too.

Ophelia and Austin were my last session of 2011 and now it’s all about our new addition around here. I’m busy getting everything finished up for my clients and getting a new little nursery set up for our little one. 2012 is bringing so much good all ready!

Congrats again Ophelia! I wish you an easy labour and no pain (So I wish you  magical labour. Haha. But hey, one can wish right!)

Cheers,

Kelsy

Marily & Mike – Edmonton Destination Wedding Photographer

Long ago Marily and Mike decided that a destination wedding would be the perfect fit for them. Then they decided that Barcelo Palace Deluxe in Cabo  San Lucas was the perfect location. I couldn’t have agreed more. The resort was stunning and modern, the wedding was meticoulsy planned and every guest left with a great tan and fond memories. I was so happy to join them with my eager-to-help (haha) husband Tim and our daughter, Violet. Even a month later she still asks nearly every morning “Airplane? Beach? Ocean?” Needless to say she loved it too.

Marily didn’t stop laughing and smiling all day. Mike was obviously smitten. Perfection.  You were both a joy to photograph and your easy going relaxed nature made the day so enjoyable for everyone there. The late afternoon oceanside ceremony was followed by a stunning 5 course meal with the reception lasting into the wee hours of the morning. I think every guest was out shaking it on the dance floor by the pool. I actually I know every guest was out dancing because I have a lot of photographic evidence of the fact:)

Because of the timing of the day we woke up early the morning after the wedding to get a few more images of the couple. Marily and Mike had ventured out to Lover’s Beach” (could that name be more appropriate ?? ) on a previous visit to Cabo and had loved it.  I have to say that any groom that wakes up at 7am the day after that party for more pictures for his wife must be a seriously good catch.

Thank you Marily and Mike for helping me finish my 2011 wedding season with a bang

Hugs,

Kelsy

Sandra & Kent – Edmonton Wedding Photographer

What happens when an EMT keeps meeting the same nurse at the same hospital when in uniform? They fall in love and get married, of course! I love these two and their romantic story. Makes you really believe nothing is left up to chance….

So while the rest of Edmonton was enjoying a mild snow-free winter, Sandra was busy praying for a snowfall on her wedding day to go with her wintery theme. Well, she got her wish and a beautiful blanket of snow fell the morning of the big day.  Other then being incredibly slick to walk and drive on, the snow fall made the winter wedding complete. Sandra was nothing but giddy all day over how perfect everything had turned out. I have to admit, I loved being able to shoot in the pure white snow and enjoy the company of two awesome people on their incredible day.

Like others said before me, it was the best Star-Wars-Christian-Scottish-Wedding I have ever attended:)The mutliple referencces to Star Wars at the ceremony (including a light sabre exit put on by their numerous nieces and nephews), the visits by some pretty funny characters and some kilts and Scotch made this wedding uniquely one of a kind. Thanks so much for having me there to take it all in.

Hugs,

Kelsy

Thank you to Carla for toughing the cold and helping me out on this special day!

Lauressa & Shaun- Edmonton Maternity Photography

Early one chilly fall morning I met up with Lauressa and Shaun to document the adorable bump Lauressa was growing. At the time of our  session she only had a couple weeks left before she met  her new little baby. Waiting to those last couple weeks to meet your baby are some the most exciting and looongest weeks of your life. I’m glad tiny Sophia didn’t make you wait to long before making her appearance!

I hope you are enjoying these first weeks with her and taking in every minute of her littleness. I’ve said it a million times but it all goes by so so fast.

Hugs,

Kelsy

Belanger Family- Edmonton Family Photography

The Belanger Family has moved a bit over the last few years with their Dad playing in the NHL, but they are now happy to call chilly Edmonton home.  We were able to schedule a last minute family session this fall and even in the cold (hey Edmonton is no Phoenix!) we had a lot of fun playing around a old farm. The girls are absolutely adorable and I loved hearing them go seamlessly from French to English. So sweet. Edmonton is very happy to have you here and we hope you like it as much as we do:)

Cheers,

Kelsy
