April is my favourite month, and no, not just because it’s tax season, it’s because lots of my favourite things happen that month. My 27th birthday, me and Tim’s 4th anniversary, the first moments of spring…. all things I planned on blogging but somehow between being in Texas, being sick and being just plain busy my favourite month slipped away on me. 27 should be a great year, mostly because of my awesome daughter, amazing husband and all-around cool clients. In our family we have “birthday seasons” mostly because it takes a while to celebrate your birthday with everyone (you know dinner with family, then with friends, and in-laws and then other group of friends….all of a sudden it is spread out over a few weeks- FUN!) so on the blog we are extending the birthday season.
Last year I did a “26 Things about me” so I’ve thought up 27 new things about me and I’m posting them here for you all to learn a little more about me. And because a post isn’t nearly as fun without pictures, I’m including some from me and Violet’s trip to TX with pictures from the airplane, Sea World, the Alamo and San Antonio…. Enjoy!
1. I love my little Violet and my Tim more then anything.
2. I still love Survivor after all these years. Heroes vs Villains is the all-time-best-ever year.
3. This year I ‘m also loving Modern Family and think Community is the funniest show on TV. I’ve also been watching Glee and thinks it’s a fun change from all the crime shows.
4. When I was 8 a house fire burned down our next-door neighbors house. I remember watching the flames through my window and praying all my toys would be safe. My brother had another approach: he stuffed our circa 1988 Apple Macintosh computer into our car and got out the garden hose.
5. I hope that Jennifer Aniston will find true love. Poor girl.
6. I love grocery shopping. It’s like I’m going out shopping and buying new pretty things, but I’m not wasting money- I’m buying necessities!
7. I think getting a new toothbrush is just divine.
8. I love travelling and getting off the beaten track a bit. The next place we are going to travel to is South Africa this winter.
9. I got bitten by the travel bug as a young kid. It’s one of the many things my mom taught me. She also taught me to be fearless in travel- we would do such ridiculous things together when traveling in South East Asia. We were much too trusting and probably way to brave. I scare Tim when we travel now.
10. Lately I worry a lot. I worry every time I leave the house that its going to burn down. I worry about what I’ll say to Violet the first time someone teases her. I worry about contracting some unknown virus. I worry about strangers texting and driving. I worry about getting not enough vitamin D…I worry about getting too much vitamin D. I worry that I worry too much.
11. I don’t do caffeine. Even a single Pepsi will keep me up at night.
12. Having a C-section was like a strange out of body experience. It didn’t help that I went to the hospital for back pain and found out I’d be having a baby in 20 minutes.
13. This is my 4th summer at my business. I am learning so much every year.
14. During my “maternity leave” we watched a ton of Olympics. We nearly saw every Canadian medal win. Never have I been so proud to be Canadian….
15. …..Watching Sidney Crosby score the overtime winner was right up there with the happiest days ever.
16. I subscribe to the Edmonton Journal and to the Hockey News.
17. After I graduated from NAIT I wanted to go into Dental Hygiene since I didn’t feel like I would ever be a good enough photographer to make it a career. Then I decided I better give it a shot and see what happened. Turns out you can do anything you put your mind too.
18. I love cold winter nights curled up on the couch with hot chocolate (and Tim).
19. Some days I just want Violet to grow up so I can talk with her and see what she is good at and what she likes and who she is. Some days I want her to be my baby forever.
20. I believe you should use any excuse to throw a party for your friends.
21. I believe you should end conversations with people you love with an “I love you”. Too many sad things happen and I feel better knowing that I can always leave conversations letting people know how important they are to me.
22.I’m going back to the place where Tim and I were married four years ago in 3 weeks and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
23. John Mayer and Jack Johnson still fill up my play lists after all these years.
24. I put things in “safe places” and never remember where they are.
25. I have now switched from my old favorite cereal Lucky Charms to the much more healthy Honeycombs.
26. In grade 2 our school put on a play called “The Littlest Christmas Tree”. Guess who was the littlest Christmas Tree? Oh Yeah.
27. I love setting goals and accomplishing them. 27 things about me? Done.
Your mother was just here today at our home for lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her as it’s been a few years since we’d last seen her.
Pat showed us your website and we just wanted to comment on how lovely it is — personable and personal and inviting. We could hardly believe you are grown and married and have a baby, no less.
All the best to you and Tim and Violet.
