I had the pleasure of joining this adorable family on their farm west of Edmonton last fall to capture their life with three busy little boys. I’m pretty sure they kept me moving the entire session, and that’s exactly how I like it! From running through wheat fields to showing me all their new kittens, we had such a gorgeous evening together. From a photographer’s perspective golden light over a golden field is basically like a dream- but more important than the background is the people in the pictures. Documenting real laughter, moments and natural smiles is what I love, no matter if your backyard is an entire farm, or if it’s a little patch of grass in suburbia. If we can play and move and laugh, I consider our session a success.
Don’t let feeling like you don’t have the perfect yard or the perfect outfits deter you from booking a session. Real is always better than perfect. I can promise you that you will look back on your images and feel nostalgia for the time and place. When looking through your album 20 years from now I want you to remember exactly how things felt “back then”. For this little family, their real is growing wheat, playing in mud and chasing little boys through fields. Maybe yours is sprinklers, popsicles and hoola hoops? Let me tell your story, however you want to tell it.
