After the excitement that surrounded Neko’s<\/span> <\/a>Birth, I was so looking forward to photographing my second birth. \u00a0I was humbled when Vannessa<\/span><\/a>, a birth photographer herself, ask me to be part of her familie’s intimate moment. It was quite a different experience then my first birth because Vannessa decided she wanted a home water birth with her midwife. \u00a0She had her first child naturally with a Midwife at a birth centre and \u00a0she knew she could do it at home. \u00a0She began her her contractions early that morning but nothing seemed to be consistent, too painful, or really progressing, so I waited patiently at home for the call she was in active labour. \u00a0Later that morning I received a text saying to come in 30 minutes or so, things were picking up. Then I got another text, 5 minutes later, saying COME NOW. I had my bags already packed by the door so I rushed out. \u00a0As I arrived Vannessa was ready to get into her birthing pool. Her contractions had gone from “zero to a hundred<\/em>” in only a few minutes. \u00a0Her midwifes arrived a couple minutes after me, and less then 20 minutes later we had little Evie. It was a little crazy, a little rushed (I’m sure I looked like a mad man running around getting set up- It was my first time doing Video along with stills so it was double to get set up \ud83d\ude42 ) but it was all-around beautiful. Even though it was a shorter<\/em> labour \u00a0it had its share of magic moments- when Vannessa’s husband Derek caught Evie and put her on Vannessa’s chest, when Vannessa realised she had a girl, and that first glance into her baby’s eyes claiming each other for their own. \u00a0All. Pure. Magic.<\/p>\n

Here’s a short slideshow of the Welcoming Evie into the world. It’s the simple, pure story of her quick arrival. Thank you Vannessa and Derek for allowing me to be present at one of your lives biggest moments. Little Evie is so blessed to have you has parents.<\/p>\n
