Vannessa & Derek are expecting there first baby in a few short weeks. She is absolutely glowing. Pregnancy looks so good on Vannessa…even the last month of it. She has embraced the belly and celebrates it. But how could she not with a perfect round belly like that? We met at their gorgeous Terwillegar home (if I was building another home I might just steal their floor plan..and decorating…and shutters…) and it’s complete with a nearly finished vintage owl nursery (which I’ll share some images of when the blog meets the new baby after it’s born). One thing I loved from their session was Vannessa’s birthing necklace. A string of beads was given to her by friends and family. It serves as a symbol of her strength and the support she has around her. What a great idea for a mom-to be-to to remind her that pregnancy and delivery can be some of the most amazing experiences of her life. And since the weather that day was nearly spring-like we also ventured outside for a few more images. I loved hanging out with both Vannessa and Derek. We just share so many of the same interests it was great hearing their stories and sharing some of my own 🙂

i saw her necklace and my heart was filled with joy. i took a birth class with 9 other couples and the last class everyone brought a 9 beads to share. we all created our own necklaces together as a symbol and as a bond. happy to say 5 years later we are all still friends, some of my best in fact.
